Australia wine has more than 60 famed regions known for exclusive wine production. These are ranged as the top ranking and awarded regions. Australia boasts of few of the antiquarian Shiraz vineyards nestled in the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale at Southern Australia.

Swan Valley in Western Australia houses the oldest wine producing region. Featuring a dry warm climate,this valley gave way to the inception of viticulture. This region has continued to hold on to its legacy of producing some of the best verdelho, Shiraz and cabernet. This region also features few boutique wineries.

The Hunter Valley in New South Wales is located few hours from Sydney. This premium wine producing region is famous for its Semillon, Shiraz and Chardonnay varieties. There are around 120 wineries and the Wyndham estate is the oldest in the lot. The Lovedale Long Lunch event is among the most well known events featuring the best picks from the Hunter Valley.

The Yarra Valley in Victoria is almost an hour away from Melbourne. This is the place that saw the birth of the wine industry of Victoria. Featuring 55 wineries, this region has both small family run vineyards to the larger vineyards. The famous wines of Yarra Valley includes Pinot Noir, Sparkling wines and Chardonnay. The top ranking wine from this region are Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Shiraz.
The Grampians, Pyrenees and Ballarat regions in Western Victoria are known it's cool climate.

A few of the other famous wine producing regions are Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) and Clare Valley.
